From annual Quality Indexes in 2010/11 of 86,293 defect levels to 2012/13 quality level reductions to 24,346 and 11,701 defect levels respectively, the quality group under my leadership took the quality index level to the best of the 3 divisions achieving a 98.45% year-to-date rating for Trinity Industries, Inc. August13, 2013 Continual training by our welding school personal to improve our associates’ skills was a great 1st move on the Port Allen Plant. I stepped it up with the quality group and started to visually review the contracts that were currently being pulled through the shop floor. In providing the plant with the review and focusing on each individual department through charts and graphs, I was able to achieve action to compete with other shifts and departments and thereby increasing the quality level of the customer’s project.Lastly, I installed a mentor program with our inspectors to assist the production team in learning what was needed for the best methods and to help direct and seek out any training that was needed to bring people to the attention of the weld training school. This method was very helpful, because it removed the police force mentality and instilled a come along side friendship to help others improve in their job description.
