As Transmission Department General Manager for Construction & Maintenance Midwest Region, is responsible for leading a team of Construction and Maintenance Managers, Supervisors, and technical craft employees to achieve strategic operational and financial company objectives. The General Manager facilitates and directs activities that support customers and communities to provide a safe and efficient high voltage electric system and supports a productive and motivated team of employees. There are approximately four hundred employees assigned to the Midwest Construction and Maintenance team and an additional two hundred contract support personnel. The Midwest Construction & Maintenance organization maintains over nine hundred substations and approximately eight thousand miles of Transmission lines in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. The team is also responsible for the construction of future Transmission substation or line assets and upgrades. The General Manager position is responsible for meeting financial and operational performance objectives for the Midwest Transmission organization; empowered with significant day to day decision making authority for operations. The General Manager ensures adherence of safe work practices, application of standards, work methods, and work procedures by all employees. The General Manager position is also responsible for compliance with all applicable state, federal, and company requirements including but not limited to, FERC and NERC applicable standards.

The group is responsible for maintaining the Progress Energy-Florida’s transmission facilities comprising of Vegetation Management, Transmission Line Maintenance, and Substation Maintenance. Northern Florida Transmission Maintenance is headquartered in Ocala Florida with 67 employees located at satellite line and substation maintenance facilities in Monticello, Crawfordville, Wilcox, Wildwood, Crystal River, High Springs, Monticello, Apalachicola, and Suwannee Florida. The group’s responsibilities include maintenance of 2,843 miles or sixty-two percent (62%) of Progress Energy’s Florida transmission lines in the voltage classes of 500kV, 230KV, 115KV, and 69KV voltage. The area provides wholesale delivery points to 8 SECI cooperative customers, 6 municipalities, 279,000 wholesale and 583,000 retail customers.The group also maintains transmission assets at several generation sites producing in excess of 3800 megawatts of electricity.
