My primary career for nearly 50 years is commercial real estate development. I've been the primary partner in the development of retail centers, office buildings, warehouse facilities and land development. I founded Larrick Corporation, the "company" in 1981. Over the years I've entitled 43 properties.I was a founding owner of a national bank, later sold to Wells Fargo.Having an interest in agriculture the company owned and I actively managed a 2,000 acre irrigated farm in the San Luis Valley. Later the business was moved to Morgan County where we raised 9,000 tons of alfalfa per year on about 1,500 irrigated acres..I formed a company to buy and sell security derivative option contracts on futures of the S&P500, the 30 year bond and the Japanese yen. The federal bankruptcy court appointed me to the chairman, CEO and president of a public potato company that grew about 600,000, 100 lb. sacks of potatoes that were sold to grocery stores across the southern states. After the debtors couldn't develop a reorganization plan, I took 45 days to develop a plan of reorganizations the court, creditors and debtors approved.My last community development project was a 900 acre project in Windsor, CO.Since many inputs for land development proved to be non-transitory during COVID, margins proved uneconomic for further land development. .Today as an alumnus of Harvard I'm mentoring Harvard graduate school students and trading the securities markets.While my passion has always been the land business, my undergraduate finance degree from Colorado State Univ. is intertwined throughout my career.
