Graduating with a degree in IT in the middle of a recession presented significant challenges. Not one to sit and wait, I pivoted and spent the next few years in retail and quickly moved into leadership. After some internal instability at JCPenney, I continued to expand my problem-solving and communication skills at Enterprise Holdings, quickly learning the business, and climbing the ladder once again. After honing my soft skills and building a solid financial foundation, it became clear that something was missing in my career. And in the midst of a global pandemic, I realized that I wanted my work to have a greater impact. I had laid the groundwork with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and it was in my Cybersecurity Boot camp that I found the spark I’d been searching for. After completion, I accepted a position at EY Consulting as a Client Serving Contractor. I worked on various projects in Incident Response Management, Project Management, and Technical Writing. The need to protect digital assets and the people attached to them is growing exponentially, and I’m excited to be part of it.
