Don Phillips,director of Phillips Development & Realty, LLC (PDR),and advisor to Phillips Equities &Trust has been in real estate since 19.Phillips began in Charlotte in 1986 as a real estate broker quickly associating with Gary M Hock where he was mentored in real estate development.His first success as a private developer was the Triangle SportsPlex in Orange County, NC in 1994.The facility is truly unique with an aquatics/ ice hockey facility under one roof. Funding was provided through creative,private bonding for $10.6 million. This was followed by a similar athletic facility and managed by the Downtown Durham YMCA in 1997. Phillips focused on multi-family properties thereafter and in 2003 expanded to Tampa Fl,while continuing to develop throughout the Southeast. Phillips has received three gubernatorial appointments and served on several State committees.In 2007 he was appointed by Governor Crist to the Tampa-Hillsborough County Expressway Authority (THEA) board where he served as Chair and Vice-Chair until 2012. In 2009 ,he was appointed as one of five statewide board members for the Transportation and Expressway Authority Membership of Florida (TEAMFL), an association representing the five expressway authorities of Florida.Mr. Phillips was appointed by Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives to the Board of Enterprise Florida in 2009.During his tenure he advocated for the reformation of The Hillsborough County Economic Development Corporation.( THEDC) In 2011, he was asked to join THEDC as a member of the Executive board. THEDC is the lead economic organization of Tampa Bay.Phillips has developed or owned thousands of M/F units, office, medical and muni-facilities and most recently express car washes.. He is committed to projects that align interests of communities, investors, and environment. Personally, he loves the outdoors as a conservationist, adventurer, and traveler,His appreciation for nature,angling and shooting sports is embodied in the charities he supports such as the Sierra Club., He also enjoys flying,diving and boating. He shares his interest with his family of five children in Tampa.
