In August 2022, I stepped down after eight years as dean at Maryland Carey Law to return to full-time teaching. As a professor of Law, my research and teaching involve tax law, professional responsibility, election law, and organizational change. I continue to serve on various community and nonprofit boards, seeking to align my volunteer work with important social causes. I am currently working with the Erin Levitas Foundation to prevent sexual assault through early education.During my deanship, I leveraged my work as a staff member in the United States Senate, and helped lead Maryland Carey Law through some of the most challenging times in legal education. We increased diversity in the law school by recruiting an incredibly diverse faculty, and one of the most diverse classes in the law school's history. We also increased our presence in the community and worked to integrate the law school's mission with helping the city and the state.Prior to joining Maryland Carey Law, I was a professor and associate dean at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. I also served as an appellate attorney in the Tax Division of the U.S. Justice Department and as a law clerk for The Honorable Francis Murnaghan, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. I began my career on Capitol Hill, working there before, during, and after graduating magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from Georgetown Law Center. I worked as a professional staff member for U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes (D.-MD), the Senate Committee on the Budget, and the Joint Economic Committee of Congress.
