As Monsanto Fellow, product development through great science!Led the validation and optimization of the Automated Greenhouse for plant phenotyping and trait assignment to transgenes. This included assay development for both vegetative and reproductive assays through maturity, metric validation and calibration, assessment of event selection capabilities, and experimentation to identify environment by trait interactions, as well as germplasm by trait interactions.Led the Plant Physiology team in collaboration with Regulatory during the development of new methods for assessment of water use to support Regulatory needs and produce information used for DroughtGard’s commercial launch. Led implementation of assays for root and photosynthetic measurements and identifying trait active constructs useful for stacking as part of integrated corn and soy products.Led a protein characterization sub-team in collaboration with Regulatory as well as established the strategy for demonstrating substantial equivalence for grain metabolites for a drought product during the period leading up to DroughtGard Regulatory handoff in 2006. Contributed to design and execution of Regulatory’s field Path Analysis trial, recognized by Regulatory with a Job Well Done award, and consulted with Regulatory to provide responses to Japanese regulators.Led the Corn Water Utilization Project at its inception by joining Genomics and Biotechnology teams to discover and test concepts for drought tolerance. Led the Soybean Yield Trait team at its launch and early adopter of microarray analyses for promoter and gene-of-interest discovery leading to 2 issued patents.
