Responsible for all stages of user experience design and development for a portfolio of complex IoT products and services. Led and managed other user experience designers while collaborating with researchers, software engineers, and product designers to craft powerful solutions for our clients. Worked with UX team and partners to help improve user experience strategies and processes.

Provided user interface strategies and solutions that addressed identified user needs and experiences, while helping clients meet their business objectives. Collaborated closely with Designers, Researchers, Engineers and Product Managers, both internal and external, throughout the design process, supporting a variety of deliverables ranging from the crafting of user flows and wireframes to building user interface mockups and prototypes.

Worked within the Usability & Experience Design team at the Newell Rubbermaid Design Center to create user-centered experiences and products that improved the lives of end users. Involved in all stages of user experience design process for projects ranging from embedded systems to mobile and desktop applications. Partnered closely with Brand and Software teams to deliver interface behavioral specifications that met business requirements and the needs of the user. Helped conduct usability testing to gain user insights and provide recommendations to product development teams.

Conducted product research, wrote design specifications, created interface flow diagrams, and implemented interfaces that enriched the user experience of the Humminbird brand. Led interface development projects from the ground up on several different platforms including the award winning Humminbird ONIX Series fishfinder. Supported Technical Writers by providing technical illustrations for product manuals and installation guides.

Taught Design Communication course covering many industrial design visualization techniques. Emphasis was on developing the ability to efficiently communicate design ideas in a convincing manner using perspective, color, value and lighting to define form. Students were introduced to the importance of research, advanced technologies and benchmarking.

Periodically taught "Designing for Multimedia Display", an undergraduate course in the Web Design & Interactive Media department. Course introduced students to the process of conceptualizing and planning interactive projects, writing design documents for projects on a variety of delivery mediums, analyzing each mediums capabilities and limitations, studying information architecture and interaction design, and how to translate user and customer goals and requirements into cohesive designs.

Worked with companies worldwide in the development of branded products, promotional merchandise, and proprietary consumer goods. Projects included both soft and hard goods such as backpacks, luggage, apparel, toys, and novelties. Managed and collaborated with contract designers on all aspects of the design process including concept development, product aesthetics, product/brand identity, and overseas production. (Position was eliminated year end 2010)

Responsible for the creation of computer/web-based training for associates across company’s international network. Involved in all stages of project development including project management, storyboarding, authoring, distribution, and data collection/evaluation.Developed computer/web-based training version control, peer style review, and graphics/animation standards. Converted computer-based training from LAN to Web for distribution over company Intranet. Assisted with successful distribution of computer/web-based training to international partners in Canada and India. Promoted to Multimedia Specialist II.

Developed interactive multimedia courseware to demanding military standards for aircraft maintenance/pilot training and internal inventory control system. Trained new employees and contractors on functional duties of Courseware Developer position.AH-64D Apache Longbow Helicopter Project - Instrumental in the successful completion of 29 computer-based training courses in 18-month period. Established standards, procedures, and screen templates for courseware development.Integrated Manufacturing Controls Systems (IMACS) Project - Integral part of on-time delivery of Phase III portion of in-house computer-based training application. Promoted to Courseware Developer after finishing at the top of company’s software training program.

Created detailed illustrations and 3-D solid models for traditional and interactive aircraft maintenance manuals. Maintained electronic drawing database and mentored new employees.Achieved 98.7% on-time completion rate of technical publications, surpassing company goal. Chosen to join F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) group to convert paper publications to electronic technical manuals. Played an essential role in completing illustrations for 5,800 units of AV-8 Harrier technical publications. Elected to the Illustration Continuous Improvement Team (ICIT) and volunteered as a Point-of-Contact to other team members. Promoted to Senior Technical Illustrator.
