Influential organiser, writer and researcher in adult learning, skills and technology. Currently focussed on generating useful conversations in learning - through research, writing and organising events.Since the mid 1980s I've done most roles in learning, skills and technology, from design and delivery to chairman of the board. I have chaired the Learning Technologies Conference in London since 2000, and since 2014 have produced the annual L&D Global Sentiment Survey, taken by several thousand people in over 100 countries each year.I have been a company director and shareholder for three companies through start up, growth and acquisition. I use that experience and my knowledge of the industry to support European EdTech start ups, working in association with early stage investors Emerge Education.From 2010 to 2021 I was chair of the LPI (formerly the Learning and Performance Institute) and in 2007 was the recipient of the Colin Corder award for services to training. A graduate of Oxford University, in 2016, I was awarded an honorary doctorate by Middlesex University in recognition of my work developing the L&D profession. I am the author of Learning Technologies in the Workplace (Kogan Page, 2017)
