Don has been the co-owner of the Green Acres Kennel Shop in Bangor, ME since 1995. Green Acres Kennel Shop (www.greenacreskennel.com) is a Pet-Friendly facility committed to pain-free, force-free and fear-free pet care. They offer boarding, daycare, pet sitting, grooming, training classes, behavioral consultations and the sale of wholesome pet food and quality supplies. Staff members are members of the Pet Professional Guild and abide by its Guiding Principles. Don is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC), Associate Certified Cat Behavior Consultant (ACCBC), Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Bach Foundation Registered Animal Practitioner (BFRAP). With experience and education in canine and feline behavior, Don consults on a variety of behavioral problems such as separation anxiety and aggression. Green Acres dog training program focuses on companion dog training.Don is a past President of the Madison Audubon Society, the Bangor Humane Society and is a past Chair of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT). He served on the APDT Board of Trustees for nine years; 2.5 as Chair. He is also a past chair of the APDT Education Advisory Group and the APDT Nominations Committee. In October of 2014, he was recognized as the APDT Dr. Ian Dunbar Member of the Year. Currently, Don serves on the Steering Committee of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG) where he is the co-chair of the Advocacy Committee, coordinator of the Shoc-Free Coalition Regional Coordinators, and the Shock-Free Coalition Regional Coordinator for the State of Maine.
