I have always wanted to assist people through difficult times by giving them the hope and guidance that they need to succeed. Throughout my profession, I have done just that, but not alone. I needed mentorship, which taught me that success generally is built with a team in action. To be successful, a village of support is significantly necessary to assist with a person's personal development. At a young age, I was diagnosed with a learning disability that made things quite difficult. Even after graduating from high school, learning became even more challenging. I flunked out of a few colleges, took a break away from school, and jumped into a job that simply paid the bills. I found myself at a crossroads of confusion and uncertainty. However, I began to surround my self with people that were either well established or ambitious about the career that they sought. I had developed my circle of support. I started to read more, challenge myself academically, and create. I completed my undergraduate with a 3.8 GPA and later went on to complete my master's degree in Public Affairs and Administration (MPA). Now I am giving back by serving people with the same knowledge and support that I received from my circle of support.

I currently interview people with Developmental Disabilities on their strength and weakness.

While working at Gateway Counseling Center Inc, I wore different hats and played multiple roles to help support the organization's mission. Every day was a different challenge that helped me to learn and grow. In my role as Director of Transportation, I was in charge of ensuring that the individuals that we provided services to were being transported to and from the program safely. My overall mission was to monitor staff and the billing for the Transportation Department. In addition to my duties as the Transportation Director, I was also in charge of training staff on crisis management, which served as a support to staff whenever they needed to intervene to minimize a crisis with the individual that we serve. As a shift supervisor, my primary duty was to support the employees that I supervised on their daily tasks. My experience of managing and maintaining these three positions was a learning experience for me. It taught me how to communicate effectively while managing these three roles (Shirt Supervisor, Director of Transportation, and Crisis Intervention Instructor). Most importantly, it gave me the skills that were needed to be an effective leader and to play a significant role within the organization.

-Counseled Youth age 9-17 on developing money management skills and mental health coping skills-Organized family support meetings along with organizing family support groups/counseling.
