Facilitated the distance learning program at the high school level. Created a video production program at Darmstadt Middle School and the video communications program at Gen. H.H. Arnold (Wiesbaden) High School. Neither school had video programs previously; both were created from scratch. I was a member of the initial Professional Technical Education Task Force, and subsequent Career Technical Education Task Force, which developed the organization’s systemwide standards for high school-level Video Communications courses. Volunteered on the School Advisory Committee (representative, vice-chair, and chair); Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (parliamentarian); ran the computer and video clubs; videotaped and edited football, basketball, and soccer games; videotaped and edited concert, drama, and special assemblies; videotaped and edited monthly faculty meetings (“flipped” meetings); and operated the scoreboard for high school football games. Coordinated meetings between City of Darmstadt and U.S. Military Community Activity Darmstadt representatives to establish a paper recycling program. Promoted the first-of-its-kind program through school activities and community-wide recycling drives. The Darmstadt MILCOM was awarded $75,000 from the Commander-in-Chief Installation Excellence competition for a paper I authored regarding the school’s participation in the recycling program. Developed the relationship to enable my students to provide news and information content (TV and radio) to local affiliates of the Armed Forces Network Europe.
