CurrentI am a member of the Energy Litigation and Products LIability Groups at Steptoe & Johnson, where I am concentrating on various environmental topics including air, soil, and water quality and occupational exposures to physical and chemical factors. I remain acvitively engaged in the defense of medicolegal claims in the transportation industry and toxic and traumatic brain injury claims. My experience includes the following: Served as National Coordinating Counsel for a Class I Railroads for the defense of occupational injury and disease claims, including development of systematic defense protocols, coordination of regional counsel, coordination of expert witnesses, counseling of learned corporate witnesses, safety and health regulatory compliance, system wide discovery management, and development of an electronic discovery management program.Defended a national steel manufacturer against severe occupational brain injury claim at trial, and sustained verdict on appeal.Engaged in numerous preliminary hearings to determine the admissibility of novel and complex scientific evidence for clientele in the transportation and manufacturing industries in federal and state courts nationally. Defended clients in the transportation and manufacturing industries in numerous medicolegal actions, including work-related musculoskeletal disorders and occupational exposure to physical and chemical factors including noise, vibration and repeated shock, asbestos, crystalline silica, diesel exhaust, carbon monoxide and other gases and vapors, and industrial chemicals.Invited lecturer on physical and psychological fitness for duty of employees in safety critical positions, toxic and traumatic brain injury, determination of causation in compensation environments, and the admissiblity of novel and complex scientific evidence.
