I started my career as a Software Engineer in 2014, but my passion for computer science and programming started long before that. Few months into my first job, I decided to pursue my masters degree in computer science. I did my MS degree focused in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Arlington. My graduate studies gave me a lot more hands on experience and that opened a whole new world to me.Fresh out of graduate school, I joined at Visa Inc. I started worked on the legacy system, but soon got a chance be a part of lot of new initiatives. During my time there I spearheaded couple of initiatives to maintain code quality, break down legacy system, improve developer environment, etc. Two years passed by and I realized I want to work on something other than fin tech. That's when I got an offer from Microsoft and decided to take up the offer. At Microsoft, I started by taking the ownership of a PII leak detection tool. But it was not just that. I had an opportunity to build a scalable system from the scratch. I developed a react based dashboard that tracked customer data. I worked on adding lot new features and metrics to the dashboard and got an end to end experience while working on it. It started with just two developers and gradually the project itself transformed into a whole new team. It was time for me to take up another opportunity, which was with Dropbox. Right now I am working on lot of cool features that are used my millions of users to organize their files within Dropbox. Although I focus more on backend development, I am experienced with front end as well. My skill set include Python, Java, Typescript, C, Shell script, Docker, React, etc. I have worked on highly complex legacy systems and also built scalable systems from scratch. I work in an agile environment and collaborate with product managers to implement highly scalable systems.Outside of work, I am an active volunteer with AnitaB.org. I am the founder and current leader for the Dallas AnitaB local community. I have been involved in various projects creating a supportive space for women in technology to connect, learn, and thrive in the industry. As an international student, I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with pursuing higher education in a foreign country. Since then, I have been focusing on mentoring aspiring international students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their own dreams of higher education.
