Leukemia survivor turned life THRIVER, my passion over the last 15 years has been inspiring people to overcome adversity in every aspect of life; personal and professional. In 2005, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). As an avid marathon runner, surviving cancer became an unexpected & challenging finish line, but my race didn’t end there. Five rounds of chemo and a stem cell transplant over 8 months, determination and courage led me to create the Finish Your Race™ campaign to celebrate survival, raise money for the cause, and run for those who could not finish their race. In 2010, I ran 5 half marathons & 6 marathons with Team In Training, all post stem cell transplant.In 2017, I published my first book, “Finish Your Race: A Cancer Survivor’s Strategies to Empower Your Life”. Since surviving cancer, I’ve spoken at dozens of national and regional conferences for corporations and nonprofits, sharing my story and inspiring strategies to overcome adversity. I have found purpose teaching others to finish their race in all areas of life with courage, confidence, grace and a positive spirit.Raising money and awareness for cancer research is a huge part of my mission. I’m a founding board member for the Honored Hero Run, a non-profit event which raised money for Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS). I’ve also served on the Board of Directors for the LLS, The First Tee of Fort Worth, among other philanthropic endeavors. Author, Speaker, Podcast Host, & Life Thriver.
