Don is an accomplished financial and business leader assisting companies in food & beverage, ag tech, branded CPG, and health & wellness grow their business for successful value creation and exits. He brings experience scaling rapid growth companies establishing systems and processes to achieve results. He is skilled at financial management, brand positioning, operational effectiveness, direct-to-consumer, M&A, risk mitigation, audit oversight, and business restructurings.Currently, Don is a board member and/or advisor to companies seeking operational expertise, financial oversight, guidance on systems integration, direct-to-consumer access, M&A, and strategic positioning. Current projects include companies in tech-enabled AI Healthcare, branded food/CPG, and agri-business. Most recently, as CEO of Sun Basket, Don negotiated a successful M&A exit valuing SB over $500M. Don started as both CFO and COO overseeing rapid growth of this natural organic home meal delivery company to national distribution serving 98% of ZIP codes in America. As a proven leader building a complex direct-to-consumer perishable supply chain, in 2019, the board elevated Don to CEO where he led the company through uncertain COVID times to a successful merger. Previously, Don was CFO of several companies including Organicgirl Produce, a leading organic salad producer in the US, and Rocket Farms, the largest greenhouse operator of floral and herbs. In addition, Don served on boards in insurance, food, wine, and freight logistics. Don received numerous recognitions including being selected to serve on the FedEX E-commerce Advisory Board (2019-2022), speaking engagements at top B-schools, and keynote at a National Organic Food Conference. Don was Vice-Chairman of the board of the Terra Insurance Company from 2004-2016, Board Member of Aspire Health 2011-2014, and CEO of a boutique winery 2011-2015.Don received his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School.
