Author: Don is the author of the self-study workbook Charting Skills for Massage Therapists. Dozens of his articles have appeared in Massage Therapy Canada, Massage Therapy Today, AMTA Journal, Massage Magazine (on-line), Massage Therapist (Australia) and various massage school and professional association newsletters.Speaker: Don has presented at massage therapist conferences in all Canadian provinces (sans Quebec).Consultant: Earlier in his career, Don assisted the Investigations and Complaints committee of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) in cases involving record-keeping. He represented the RMTAO on a health professions coalition concerned with developments in auto-insurance benefits for injured persons. Later, Don was contracted as a case assessor under auto-insurance for two Designated Assessment Centres (DACs) in Niagara. Don worked for a number of years with Hand & Stone Massage & Facial Spa Canada, training RMTs in a number of modalities and advising the corporate team on regulatory and RMT professional issues.Advocate: Don was one of 24 representatives building government relations for the professional association (RMTAO) in the Autumn of 2018. Meeting with Members of Parliament, senior policy advisors and other government staff, RMTAO represenatives asked for consideration in public health initiatives involving patients with chronic pain, requiring palliative care or living in long-term care.Recognition: Don has received the Ontario Massage Therapist Association (OMTA) President’s Award of Merit, two OMTA Hand of Thanks, and the OMTA Ken Rezsnyak Award. In 2012, Don received One Concept's Massage Therapist of the Year award.Coach: Don has been contracted to coach massage therapists on a variety of practice problems. He is currently working through the Co-Active Coaching Training program with CTI https://coactive.com/coach-training, and expects to bring additional skills to this role.
