Lieutentant Colonel Gertz was assigned to the D-1 (Personnel and Administration) section of the Maryland Defense Force and was the program manager of the Maryland Tax Subtraction Program for units of the Maryland Defense Force.Most recently, LTC Gertz served as the MDDF Administration Officer having responsibilities over the MDDF awards and decoration program and identification credentialing.The Maryland Defense Force (MDDF) is a volunteer uniformed state military agency and one of the four components of the Maryland Military Department. Formally established by the Maryland legislature in 1917, the unit's heritage and traditions trace back to the 17th century.The MDDF is one of a number of State Defense Forces authorized by the U.S. Congress under Title 32 and the respective state legislatures.

• Oversee the administration and operational readiness of all units within the State of Maryland. • Interface with all levels of active duty and reserve commands, including Flag officer level, to develop cadet training opportunities. • Ensure the adherence of all regulations and pertinent DOD directives by the cadet and adult membership within the region; Conduct unit annual inspections, in accordance with, program regulations. • Provide policy recommendations to the national program leadership. • Strengthen communications with neighboring regions to provide cross-regional training opportunities.

• Responsible for the company’s customer facing e-Commerce applications and sites.
