About Don Hull
After spending the last 14 years with Samsung, I was impacted in the latest RIF on July 26th. I'm still employed, and will be until Sept 27, 2024 due to current customer commitments. I'm now looking for my next roll that would start on or about Sept. 30th due to my contractual commitment in my transition out of Samsung. In this new roll I would like to remain a remote worker, as I have been in this type of roll for the last 25 years. I believe that I can execute very well, as I have been doing it for so long.If you have seen Pulp Fiction, I am Winston Wolf. For the last 25 plus years, I have been the go to guy to get things sorted out that someone else has messed up, or they don't know how to get it done in a timely fashion. I have done this across the world, and across our great nation.I bring to the table 20 plus year experience in the telecommunications industry. I have worked on networks across 4 continents with the best of cutting-edge technology which include CDPD, FlashOFDM, 4G, and 5G throughout my career. This includes routing and switch of IP based networks. Lite RF skills to help offsite engineers troubleshoot RF issues from the field. I have a vast knowledge of testing both in the lab and the field, as I have written test protocols for both.

My first project was to launch the first LTE network in the US for MetroPCS in Las Vegas. This includes managing field techs and other SMEs to meet the schedule driven by the customer. The follow-on project was a National deployment for Sprint’s initiative “Network Vision”. This started out managing all the Sprint Lab installations, in 2 lab locations in Kansas and managing 3 contractors.Selectively hired the entire staff of 12 employees’ that install and maintain all the Samsung Core Network elements in MTSO’s. These include Media Gateways, Evolved Packet Core (4G EPC), BSC’s, Cisco router and switches, and Wireless Soft Switch elements. This is spread across 3 tier 1 wireless operators in the US and Canada.Became the SME for the first proof of concept 5G hardware to be demonstrated to US wireless operators around the country. This included traveling to Korea for knowledge transfer, that I would then train other personal in the US to be able to demonstrate the product.Launched the first test cluster in Yuma AZ for Verizon that then led to launching Project SNAP for in Verizon in New England and Upstate New York.Currently managing a small team that installs and maintain small customer networks, labs, and private networks for emerging providers. This covers all technologies across the Samsung portfolio.

Flarion was purchased by Qualcomm in January 2006.My responsibilities at Qualcomm were a continuation of those at Flarion. I started supporting a new product under development call Flash-LinQ. This was a peer-to-peer system. My team created an outdoor test network for drive test and demonstration. My team also created a multi mobile demonstration which included streaming video, live interactive web pages to show what content could be exchanged based on proximity of mobile user. I then moved on to the Engineering Services Group where I was working in the Location Based Services group (formerly Snaptrack). In this roll I was able to learn a great deal about LBS and different types of GPS fix scenarios. This included software testing for customer releases. These test were conduct in building, and outdoors to collect KPI’s for each release. This would also translate into field testing at the customers location on various PDE vendors platforms.I was also responsible for the following:· Wrote all of the user operating manual for the different handset OS using Qualcomm’s FFA prototype handsets. These included BREW, BREW MP, MS Mobile 7, and Android. · Tested system releases of Qualcomm’s PDE software to validate functionality.· Completed all post processing of data from field collects and then wrote bug reports if there were issues with the software load.
Field Engineer
My responsibilities at Flarion were to successfully execute field trials of the Flash-OFDM products at the customer’s location. My team launched trials in 9 countries around the world and participated in national rollouts in 3 countries in Europe. We had direct customer interaction with regards to IP network design for the core network components, and deployment strategy for the BTS. Since was an all IP solution, we had to create the IP plan for all of the BTS’s as well.I was also responsible for the following:· High-level architecture for customer network designs.· Coordinated my teams schedule to meet our internal commitments and those of the customer.· Wrote and executed KPI test plans for both internal and external customers.· Supervise installation contractors during BTS deployments.· Trained field operations personal on BTS I&C and later OA&M for the BTS.· Participated in Trade Shows and onsite demonstrations of the Flash-OFDM products.

As a Sales Engineer I was responsible for direct customer interaction with regards to network consulting and design for new and existing customers.These included the following:· High-level architecture for customer network designs.· Consulted with customers on Nortel's Voice and Data products and how best to integrate them within their exiting network.· Designing a complete overhaul of a client’s current network infrastructure.· Guided client’s on routing protocols and IP address configurations· Mentored and advised junior engineers on wireless networks and instructed them on 802.11B network design techniques.
Sr. Engineer
My responsibilities were for all of the IP based services for New York Metro’s MSC’s.These included the following:· Supervise the CDPD network.· Developed a training program for the field operation personal to aid in troubleshooting and repair/replacement of hardware.· IP network design for all new services.· OSPF area layout for New York and New Jersey Networks to create routing area’s without conflicts.· When1xRTT services started, created a plan to install and maintain the IWF’s in all four switches. This included IP plans and back up strategy. · Installed IP services on all of the Tellabs 5500 DAC’s to enable remote connectivity· Installed IP services to all of the Tellabs 532L by converting X.25 to IP in a Cisco router to enable remote connectivity.· Created an out-of-band Network management for the CDPD network utilizing a 3rd party hardware platform. This gave up airlink performance on demand to be proactive with network operations.· Established baseline drive testing of the CDPD network as it overlaid on the existing AMPS voice network. Train drive test technician on the operation of the system and data reduction for post processing.
Engineer
I was in the System Test Group testing CDPD Subscriber Unit (Mobile device) that were sold to Carriers Nation wide.My duties included integration of the units into Laptops, testing all software functionality. I was responsible for setting up the first production line, which assembled, configured, and package a completed unit for sale. I also wrote an automated program to load all of the software on the target device. This also included working with a Technical writer for correction to the supplied Operating Manual. Lastly I was the lead Engineer for field trials. This was to support our device as well as testing interoperability with other MD-IS vendors. This included HNS, AT&T Network Systems, and Nortel systems.
