Throughout the rehabilitation process, pastures are being rejuvenated to support a healthy herd of grass-fed cattle that are bred and sold to local markets. Cross fencing was also added to ensure proper field rotation. Dedicated fields for rye, oats, millet and hay are also maintained to provide healthy nutrition for the herd. Once the hay field produces enough supply for the winter at the farm, excess rolls and seed are sold to other farmers in Columbia County and surrounding areas. Proper management of the farm's multiple pasture ponds, Cypress ponds and wooded areas include hundreds of Old Florida Oak Trees, supporting natural habitats and ecosystem of many species of birds, black bear, bobcats, deer and turkeys. -
