About Don Iannone (Ya-Known), Ph.D.
Don Iannone is a highly respected author and expert in economic development and public policy. His new book, America’s Dream at a Crossroads: The 2024 Presidential Election and Beyond, is on its way to becoming a bestseller. Since its release on July 8, 2024, Don has been interviewed by over 50 media sources nationwide about the book and the upcoming election.His new book, The Civil War Yesterday and Today in Poetry, gives voice to the underlying issues in the US Civil War that echo in today’s world.His research on sports business, especially public funding of professional sports facilities, has garnered significant national and local media attention.Don led major economic development organizations in Northeast Ohio for eight years and directed the economic and environmental centers at Cleveland State University for fifteen years. From 2000 to 2016, he provided economic development strategy and policy analysis consulting services to over 100 clients in 32 states and internationally. His clients have included federal agencies and departments, state development agencies, Indian tribes, and local economic development and civic organizations. He has testified before the U.S. Congress and several state legislatures and spoken widely on economic and public policy issues. He was a faculty member at the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute for 12 years and directed the Ohio Economic Development Course for 5 years. Don served on the boards of the American Economic Development Council, National Council for Urban Economic Development, MidAmerica Economic Development Council, and the Ohio Economic Development Association. He speaks on economic development and public policy issues. Since 2020, he has taught graduate business students at the European Union-based Transcontinental University. Don has authored five nonfiction books and numerous articles and monographs on economic development and public policy. He is also the author of ten poetry collections and ten photographic essays. He holds a doctorate in philosophy and several other degrees. He serves on the board of Seeds of Literacy, a nonprofit dedicated to improving adult literacy in Greater Cleveland. He is active in the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Cleveland Civil War Roundtable, Chagrin Documentary Film Festival, Literary Cleveland, the Authors Guild, the Academy of American Poets, and Poetry Society of America.
