As the Director of Quality Assurance it was my responsibility to create a Quality Assurance Team in an area that had previously been tested by customers and internal BA’s. Test Manager Mi (Consultant Profile Trending Project)Travelers Apr 2004 - Apr 2005New York, Ny, UsIn this role I provided Quality Assurance Leadership as well as the practical application of Testing Skills for a specific project in the Personal Lines Management Information area. This was a high profile project and I was contracted to manage the testing effort in order to reduce risk to both the quality of the project as well as to the delivery timeline. My major deliverables for this project were test planning documentation (Test Strategy and Test Execution Plan), review and streamlining of test cases, the roll out of a robust defect management process, and the oversight of the test execution phase of the project. In addition I created an automated framework that decreased test validation time from 9 person days to 3 minutes. The project was delivered on time with excellent quality. At the end of this project I was asked to take on two more efforts, one for controllable income reporting, and one for written production, both with similar deliverables and similar results. The quality of my work on these efforts ended with a job offer to join the leadership team for the PI Management Information Team. -

Director Of Quality AssuranceCygent Feb 2000 - Jun 2001Responsible for all QA activities associated with Cygent's leading edge eBSS software solutions. These applications featured an (n)tiered architecture utilizing BEA’s Weblogic and an Oracle database. This was a total java shop J2EE, EJBs, XML, and both HTML and JSP’s for content delivery. The applications supported functionality that ranges from order entry and external system interfaces to work flow processing. Our package also featured an administrion console written in SWING. These applications were operated and tested on Unix, NT, and HP UX platforms. Deliverables in this role were to create the infrastructure, processes, and to recruit the resources necessary to implement a structured repeatable process of quality control. I built a high performance team of 11 QA engineers. This team was responsible for both functional and performance & scalability testing of all products and API’s. We used several methods of testing to accomplish these objectives including manual testing (both black and white box), as well as automated testing (using WinRunner and LoadRunner). In the day-to-day execution of our deliverables I managed and performed all aspects of the testing cycle including requirements reviews, design reviews, test planning, test script creation, automation processes, test execution, and defect identification & resolution. Additional responsibilities included strategic planning in coordination with the VP of Product Development, the Directors of Engineering, Product Architecture, Operations, and Technical Documentation, as well as all personnel management tasks for the QA organization.

Testing Manager (Consultant)Kaiser Permanente Feb 1998 - Dec 1999Oakland, California, UsManaged and directed the QA Testing Team for the NCIS Population Care Registry product. This is a client server based application that gives Practitioners the ability to proactively provide care and treatment for registry members. This application’s back end originally utilized a Sybase database and was converted to an oracle database. The database was updated by external systems utilizing HL7 messages. The front end was a fat client implementation and was written in C++. The application was rolled out across the country from Hawaii to Georgia as part of Kaiser’s NCIS initiative. In this role I was responsible for building a QA organization from scratch as well as the definition and implementation of processes and procedures required to effectively and efficiently test the application. My team tested the initial conversion of the application’s back end from Sybase to Oracle, and performed the continued testing of the application while it was under development. We were also responsible for testing the application as delivered (rolled out) in local regions. Day to day activities included the management of 9 QA Engineers performing Functional, System, and Integration Testing of this product. Responsibilities include the authoring of test plans, creation of Project Work Schedules, risk analysis, and resource management for all QA efforts. In addition I actively coordinated with interdependent functional areas such as requirements, development, architecture, and training teams. Other responsibilities included interfacing with regional resources in an effort to integrate the PCR product into their local regions with complete and mutual understanding of system functionality as well as identifying any dependencies. -
