Chief Executive Officer
CurrentAs the Chief Executive Officer, Don serves as the principal decision-maker concerning the administrative, financial, and operations management of MedSmarter. He oversees strategic planning including budgeting, financial management, contracts, procurement, compliance, real estate, facilities, information technology, and risk management.• Plan, organize, control and direct operations and activities of all departments.Conduct financial analysis for negotiations and project costs; estimate business development project viability and ROI.• Provide technical expertise, information and assistance to the Director of Finance & Accounting regarding corporate budgets and financial and accounting activities; keep abreast of proposed legislation pertaining to non-profit finance; assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures, and programs to assure an economical, safe and efficient work environment; advise the Program Director/GM of unusual trends or problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.• Manage fixed assets, evaluate asset utilization, and recommend future purchases.Monitor the Information Technology department and recommend improvements to maintain a high standard of technical expertise.• Evaluate operating procedures, and streamline resources to improve efficiencies and cost-effectiveness.• Structure short and long term personnel plans to meet current staffing needs and to provide adequate growth potential for each program.• Exercise tact, diplomacy and recognize political and priority implications in developing and implementing programs and strategies.• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with MedSmarter staff, administration and leadership, students, community agencies, individuals, physician partners, and others.• Establish priorities, and evaluate the effectiveness of projects, programs, and services on an ongoing basis.
