Manage operations of the Energetiq Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) business unit. We deliver specialty light sources for semiconductor inspection, resist development, and microscopy to global industry leaders. Responsible also for Energetiq's overall technology and innovation activities including Laser Driven Light Sources and related integrated products.

Responsible for driving growth through the business unit's strategic planning process, identifying and evaluating organic and inorganic growth opportunities, developing new products and business models around IoT and assuring that distribution channel strategy is aligned with the evolution of product portfolio and revenue models.

Lead the product management team responsible for the Portable Analytical Instrumentation business within the Chemical Analysis Division. Current instrumentation technologies include XRF (X-ray fluorescence), Raman, NIR (Near Infrared) absorption and FTIR (Fourier Transfer Infrared). Thermo Fisher is taking the laboratory to the field in diverse markets including scrap metal recycling, oil/gas production, law enforcement, homeland security, pharmaceutical manufacturing, public safety and product safety/quality testing.

Responsible for market development, product strategy and revenue for worldwide specialty lighting markets. Primary markets are Entertainment, medical, industrial, machine vision and UV, with growing footprint in obstruction and transportation applications. Led applications engineering team in assisting customers in designing new products with novel very large LEDs. One comprehensive example involved developing and proving a concept for color combining and beam shaping of multiple sources, along with IC control and driver design for achieving accurate color control of very high current multichip devices.

Directed product development and sustaining engineering for a range of infrared spectroscopy products using tuneable semiconductor lasers. Applications included plastic identification for recycling, pharmaceutical process control and intravascular imaging (coherence tomography).

Wrote solicitations, negotiated contracts and managed Government funded technology and product development programs using a wide range of novel optical and electro-optical materials and control electronics.

Developed a business plan to develop fiber laser products for industrial and medical markets. Raised over $1M in outside development funding. Cultivated lead customers in each target application space. Worked closely with laser scientists to establish and communicate the performance of proprietary fiber lasers designed using custom-doped multicore fiber and novel diode laser pumping architectures.

Built and managed a multidisciplinary team to develop embedded WDM channel monitors and wavelength locked tuneable laser modules. Products adhered to very tight power and space budgets employing high power DSP ICs and firmware, standard and custom in-house optical components.

Managed test and measurement group, performed product management for tuneable filter products and initiated optical channel monitor development in collaboration with lead customers. Led the test team in developing automated testing and data management for throughput, consistency and data integrity.

Managed multimillion dollar DARPA program for development if integrated optical waveguide gyroscopes. Managed the engineering team for integrated optic product development.

Conducted research in GaSb based long wavelength semiconductor lasers. Responsible for technical oversight of $6M/yr Air Force Research Laboratory program for GaSb laser technology development. Built an infrared materials characterization laboratory and collaborated with industrial, academic and military researchers around the world.

Guided and directed investment programs for global Air Force implementation of fiber optic communications technology. Performed R&D in waveguide optical switches for fiber optic communication and computing.
