In this position I provided administrative support services to the Assistant Deputy Minister (Policy), [ADM (Pol)]. My administrative duties included preparing, proofreading and tracking correspondence such as letters or briefing notes for recipients in our department, other government departments and recipients outside DND. An extensive part of my job was to maintain and oversee the calendar of the ADM (Pol). Therefore, I liaised with Executive Assistants and Administrative Assistants of other Level 1 Commands, the Privy Council Office and Ministerial Offices in order to coordinate meetings and to share information as required. I ensured that meeting material and preparatory briefings occured prior to the ADM (Pol) attending meetings with other Level 1s or other stakeholders. My operational duties included scheduling and organizing conferences and meetings that include providing financial support by preparing travel arrangements, travel advance requests and initiating and processing travel claims in Claims X. I booked travel arrangements ensuring that the CFTDI, FAM, other regulations, orders and directives are adhered to. I also used the Defence Resource Management and Information System (DRMIS), a System Application Product (SAP) product, to track and amend ADM (Pol)’s Budget and provide client services and support in person, via telephone and e-mail.

33 (Ottawa) Service Battalion, Battalion Orderly Room Supervisor, Headquarters Platoon Warrant Officer, Canadian Armed Forces Primary ReserveI was responsible for supervising Orderly Room personnel as well as providing and overseeing all URS functions; processing military reserve enrolments, transfers, attach postings, releases. I maintained Personnel files and records, inputting data in the Revised Pay System for the Reserves (RPSR) and the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) (People Soft product), including using Correction Mode to amend entries as required. I provided customer service and guidance to members and my Chain of Command with regards to the administration of Reserve personnel including policies and regulations. I supervised and managed the careers of up to sixteen personnel at one time. My duties included training the personnel, assessing courses or knowledge required to perform new duties and recognising and working within each staff member's strengths while providing opportunities to develop in areas of weakness to promote professional and personal growth.
