Initiallly I was the adult education instructor primarily assessing, diagnosing, teaching concepts to strengthen weak subject matter areas pertaining to GED mastery, monitoring student improvement trhough practice, assisting students through a one-on -one basis, and retesting for proficiency as a marker for possible GED testing at one of the Official GED testing sites.Secondly, I encouraged students to consider forward thinking in goal-setting for a possible career path. I used daily conversation about importance of a career, linking GED attainment, study habits and atendance as a first step toward success in maintaining a job. I provided many activities such as career inventories, role-playing, websites, and professional and technical speakers as resources in career options.Thirdly, I managed student data, inputing and updating test gains, attainment of career goals, GED attainment, and personal information.Fourthly and finally, I trained prison inmates as GED tutors and assisted them in test administration and the NRS guidelines for gains.

Initially, I was the adult education instructor responsible for testing for strengths and weaknesses in subject matter applicable to obtaining a GED, to adults and high school students who did not have a high school diploma. I modeled the concepts where students' needs were most prevalent, ie, writing, language, social studies, science,and mathematics. I assigned practice to strenghten the weaker skillls and checked frequently that my students were understanding the concepts through a one-on- one basis. Once these students made the required percentages to gain proficiency in the weaker skills, I tested them again for improved gains. The testing, teaching, monitoring, and retesting procedure was used to obtain an opportunity to take the GED . Secondly, I was responsible for encouraging forward goal-setting and attainment of short and long term goals. General conversations on a daily basis, coupled with activities such as career surveys, role-playing, inviting professionals to speak about their jobs, and technical personnel to demonstrate some of their skills, were some of the techniques used to promote career paths.Thirdly, I was responsible for all student data to be entered into the state data system called LACES, including start up and finish dates, program duration, gains in testing and attainment of educational goals as well as career goals, and personal information.Fourthly, and finally, I was able to train prison inmates as GED tutors in test administration, and NRS requirements.
