I was born and reared in Abilene, Texas. I moved to Austin to attend graduate school at UT. I met my husband, Ernie, in Austin. After our graduations we moved to Houston, Texas, where Ernie began teaching at Houston Baptist University and I pursued another graduate program. We have lived and worked in Houston, Texas, since 1973. Being connected with the field of education has left us free to travel in the summers. We have been in 49 of the 50 states, all but one Canadian province, and 53 countries in five of the seven continents. We are both avide readers. Three years ago I decided to depart the world of public education where I had worked as a Library/Media Specialist, and devote myself to developing my own quilting business. Now I stay busy quilting for the many "toppers" who make lots of quilt tops and quilt by check. I also make custom quilts for people which includes t-shirt and memory quilts with photographs, and I do restorations on antique quilts. I stay plenty busy and have to make myself take a day off every now and then, or when my husband says, "Let's go traveling." I keep a bag packed.
