About Donna Sennott
I gained my primary business knowledge through my accounting degree, CPA certification, and years of public accounting experience. I used this experience to earn a job with the state of Massachusetts, conducting accounting, policy, and systems implementation for a public health department. While raising my family, I continued my focus on non-profits, serving as a Girl Scout Leader, choir member, and soccer coach. As president of a community theater organization, I led the board to improve operations by increasing inclusivity, expanding programs, and honing finance, income, and governance systems. After earning my master's degree in organizational psychology, I accepted a role with Read to a Child Greater Hartford in the fall of 2022, serving as Program Coordinator for the literacy mentorship program. This non-profit focuses on early literacy as a primary building block of future success. Simultaneously, I purchased a Hartford historic commercial property with my husband and am working to improve building services, maintenance, and efficiency, and expand renovations and occupancy. In the summer of 2023, I accepted an interim manager position with Read to a Child with responsibilities of managing staff and maintaining board and stakeholder communications. Also, during this time, I was recruited to serve as Treasurer for Simsbury Community Media with responsibilities for investments, payroll, taxes, accounting, and budgeting. I enjoy supporting town organizations and working together for this important community service. I continue to serve on the board of the Ansonia Derby Valley YMCA and am involved in service and fundraising.

Interim Manager And Program Coordinator
In my role as coordinator, I ensure adult volunteer readers and their students have a positive experience during their weekly sessions. Responsibilities include enrolling new students and coordinating with teachers, administration, mentors, and students. Additionally, recruitment of new volunteers is an ongoing process with reading occurring in person or online.Beginning in June of 2023, I also serve as an Interim Manager. I coordinate a team of eight employees working at five Hartford schools to improve children's literacy and emotional well-being through mentorship. Additionally, I am the liaison for the National and Greater Hartford board. I also am responsible for maintaining relationships with current and new external stakeholders.
