Led the global teams (c 1100 staff) that managed the hydrocarbon inventory for Downstream Supply, Chemicals and Manufacturing businesses. We ensured that the inventory was accurately managed - price, volume, value, and settled with our customers and vendors. Successfully led the teams through significant organizational & footprint change which, once stabilized, significantly improved the operational and controls performance. Successfully implemented and stabilized the largest ever SAP implementation for our largest OUs and JV.

Led "all things compliance" for the Shell Trading Companies in North America, including creating a monitoring & surveillance team and implementing appropriate monitoring tools; policy & advice teams, a Know Your Customer (KYC) program and developing a risk based training program. Much of this role was focused on advocacy related to DoddFrank (CFTC regulations), in collaboration with the commercial leadership team and peer companies in Houston.

Implemented the SoX program for the global Shell Downstream businesses and countries. Collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to ensure we had an efficient and effective, risk based compliance program and policies. Led the teams that designed and deployed financial controls for the global SAP implementations for Downstream; ensuring transparent MI, change management and assurance.

Responsible for monitoring all physical and financial trading activities, ensuring compliance with trading limits, and hedging mandates and responsible for maintaining all trading policies. Ensured adherence to internal policies, International Accounting Standards (IAS) and GAAP. Supported the commercial and financial reporting teams in understanding the trading financial results (market to market), accounting entries and the differences between IAS and GAAP.

Responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with our clients; delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring delivery of high quality consulting services. Most engagements focused on implementation of OpenLink Endur and a variety Credit exposure management systems. Responded to RFPs, preparation of sales materials/presentations, securing new clients and managing staff development.

Led a team responsible for supplying physical and financial energy commodities (natural gas, diesel, fuel oil) to industrial customers in the eastern half of the US. My team also managed all physical deliveries (scheduling including city gate) to these customers, managed our customer's storage assets & pipeline capacity; secured back up fuel as needed. Worked with the customers to design and implement hedging programs in accordance with their plans. As a derivative marketer, I was responsible for providing flow to the proprietary traders, hedging services for Producers and Consumers, providing market updates and commentary and strengthening relationships with our counterparties and of course growing our customer base.

Managed the credit for the natural gas marketing firm with our counterparties, including establishing credit limits, securing lines of credit, managing collateral, collections, negotiated credit clauses with our counterparties and worked with legal to ensure our contracts were executed. Oversaw the accounting group and hedging activities - managing the cash flow forecasting

Responsible for closing the financial books each reporting period, preparing all SEC filings, preparing historical financial statements for IPOs, debt offerings, stock offerings, etc. Responsible for all crude netting and settlements, settling all obligations related to the winding down of the natural gas business.

Responsible for planning and performing financial audits of energy and chemical companies based in the greater Houston area. Active member of the college recruitment team.
