Primary Responsibility: Developed curriculum and taught Diagnostic Teaching of Reading in Secondary School. Course offered graduate pre-service teachers in special education knowledge, skills, attitudes, theory, and experiences necessary for the development of secondary school content literacy instruction. Students gained understanding in: (1) the constructs of early reading development and the factors that either facilitate or impede later reading development; (2) use of informal and standardized assessments and their various applications; (3) strategies for teaching reading/writing; and (4) the use of technology as a tool for instruction and accommodation for accessibility.
