As an SDET, I trained the test team on accounting/GAAP rules for a small business software product. My test scripts and resulting financial reports were used to pretest code changes before the code could be added to the product. When I began to identify significant issues (bugs), I moved to the PM group to help design features that complied with US accounting rules. I designed a membership program and website for accountants who used the product for their clients. In September 2008, I moved to the Microsoft Dynamics AX team as a technical writer. I created Help content, training materials, white papers, and other material that customers and partners used to install and operate the software, and wrote UI text for the product. I also provided new tools, using Excel, Access, and Word, that reported team statistics and status to the director, managers, and editors. I also created several Excel templates and files that other writers used to track their own progress. I created and implemented a number of processes to improve efficiency for the team.

I joined Washington Mutual after it acquired Home Savings of America in 1998. I managed the monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting to management, regulatory agencies, the SEC, and auditors. I brought the quarterly SEC reporting in house (it had been outsourced) at a significant savings in cost. I also improved several processes, such as compilation of data for the cash flow statement, that resulted in additional cost and time savings.
