Provided strategic and functional HR services for the team located at the Thomasville, N.C. terminal. Over 800 employees, 3 shifts, 24/7; this was a dynamic, vibrant business. On the premise was a state of the art truck and auto/body mechanic shop. Included in my responsibilities was Thomas Built School Bus company and O.D. Martinsville, VA branch. I reported to the Regional HR Manager with a dotted line to the Terminal Manager. I was responsible for compensation, benefits, employee relations, people leadership and development, culture and employee engagement, recognition and reward, organization design and succession planning, health and safety, onboarding, policy/procedure administration, and training and development. In addition, I was responsible for manager/supervisor training, recruitment and retention strategies, union avoidance, performance management, and provided organization leadership and advisement.

I worked with Lowes Corporate offices, Store Managers and employees, to deliver full-cycle, fist-class HR services to Lowes Reidsville, Mayodan, and Cone Blvd locations in Greensboro, NC. This is a "hands on" position that required interaction and visibility at all levels of the organization. I was involved in the day to day business operations, financials, and the long term strategic success of the company. Specific activities included advising on HR Policy and Procedure, Employment Law, Employee Relation matters resulting in reviewing and resolving all issues. Conflict Resolution, Change Management, Talent Management, Training and Development, Recruiting, administering disciplinary action, handling grievances, performance management, studying legislation to assess industry trends, job fairs, seminars, networking with professional organizations and civic groups to help build working relationships, Benefits, Compensation, Employee Engagement, EOS, Focus Groups, etc.

As the Human Resource Manager my primary responsibility was to anticipate talent needs and address them through recruiting, staffing and training. Motivating and retaining talent was just as important so responding to HR issues, keeping employees engaged and being present with the workforce in order to better understand their needs was vital as well. In this role, I partnered with management, studied market trends, and developed short and long-term strategic plans for driving employee engagement and retention.
