I write news and feature stories on a general assignment basis for media outlets, including NationalPainReport.com, Prohealth.com, Delaware Today magazine, the Richmond Times-Dispatch (daily newspaper), Chesterfield Observer (weekly newspaper), The Health Journal (monthly magazine), Virginia Business magazine and others. I have more than two decades of experience reporting on local and state government. I covered the Newark City Council for the Newark Post and the Pennsbury Board of Supervisors for the Unionville Times upon moving to Delaware in 2012. While living in Richmond, Va., I covered the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors, School Board and Planning Commission meetings for several years for the Chesterfield Observer newspaper.

I served as editor of Virginia’s largest weekly newspaper (circulation 70,000), managing more than 20 freelance writers and photographers, an editorial assistant and the graphics department. My duties included making all story/photo assignments for the newspaper and its special sections, editing and proofreading all copy using AP style and overseeing the layout. During my tenure, the Virginia Press Association recognized the Observer with 28 writing, photography and graphic design awards. In addition to my editing duties, I reported on the Chesterfield County School Board.

I researched and summarized new civil cases filed in the Richmond City, Chesterfield County and Henrico County (Virginia) circuit courts into daily reports for Courthouse News subscribers.

I wrote copy and helped manage the creation of the Villa's quarterly newsletter, annual report, website, press releases, advertisements, brochures and other marketing materials.

I coordinated the publication of a bimonthly faculty and staff newspaper for Virginia Commonwealth University and the Medical College of Virginia (now VCU Medical Center).

I assisted committee clerks with legislative meetings, including documenting vote counts and distributing bills to delegates for review, during the 2000 General Assembly session.

I wrote news and feature stories on a general assignment basis for the Enterprise, a weekly newspaper covering Mecklenburg and Brunswick counties in Virginia. My beat was Mecklenburg County, and included covering local government (board of supervisors, school board and town council meetings), courts, schools, community news and crime. I also helped proofread copy for publication and assisted the managing editor with layout.
