Led a team of legal support staff within Desjardins General Insurance Group (DGIG), one of Canada's largest direct home and auto insurance providers. Managed the operations and human resources function of the support team by distributing workload, setting and tracking performance objectives and managing facility-related and IT issues. I built an existing team of 17 to 26 by participating in the recruitment of new resources including on-boarding and supervision of training. I conducted annual/bi-annual performance evaluations, coached and mentored staff, and implemented Best Practices improvements. Promoted team motivation through participative management and meetings designed to improve operating process and improve work atmosphere. I participated in the setup and organization of new legal department in Toronto through involvement with planning, design team, and IT resources. Overall, great experience working with the legal team at Desjardins.
