Triage Specialist
CurrentProvide an initial response and safety planning for clients who come to Middle Way House, a domestic violence shelter program assisting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Respond to crisis line calls and to the administration line as needed. Perform initial assessments and intakes for support group and housing search services, and coordinate assistance with other staff advocates. Work closely with clients on developing individual, reality-based, safety plans that help a person regain control over their lives and lessens the likelihood of violence. Assess employment needs, refer to outside agencies for necessary services, and provide critical housing search assistance. Assist clients in problem solving, submission of housing applications, and provide online and in-person search for housing, coordinating the housing search with housing and shelter programs, property management companies, and independent landlords. Help clients apply for and receive missing identification documentation and assist them in accessing other community services that enable them to attain safety. Services are provided primarily to those clients who are program eligible but who are not in shelter; whether this is due to the shelter being full, has an alternative to shelter, or because the client has recently left the shelter. Create, update, and maintain online resource and training pages for volunteers and staff. Provide backup for shelter, OSA (on-scene advocate) and administrative staff. Co-facilitate DV support group offered to survivors, one group online, the other group in-person. Represent the agency to community when requested, and when seeking coordination of services. Since agency has no IT specialist and skills are possessed - also provide web server assistance, email service assistance, and create updates in multiple web applications.
