My name is Donnell Carter. I am a recent graduate of the University of Mount Union. I graduated with a degree in English: Literature along with two minors in Communications & Africana Studies. I was very active as an undergraduate at the University of Mount Union. I have written many articles for the school newspaper, The Dynamo. As a writer for the paper, it made me pay attention to detail. Whether it had been grammatical errors, misspellings, missing information, etc., I made sure everything was accurate. This also applies to my position as Secretary for multiple organizations. I compiled all meeting minutes, attendance records and the status of members, which aided in my organizational skills. I typed all of this information personally and stored all the data on a drive so that I could easily access it when need be.Holding positions as President and Vice President in different organizations have led me to handle all types of situations. There were times where I had to solve problems when things weren’t done properly, or getting done at all. Along with these position, being a Preview & Raider Guide has helped me work both independently and with as a team. As a Raider Guide, I had to lead with a group of first year students and be a mentor to them. As a Preview Guide, I had the opportunity to work with a partner, in which we shared responsibility for different things. I helped organize a diversity conference on Mount Union’s campus for the past three years called the Not Another Statistic Conference. It is a conference for the entire campus and for schools in the surrounding area. I helped with marketing, reaching out to other college/universities and helping attain funds for the conference.All of my roles/positions have, in some ways, helped me gain multiple skills. I hope that by gaining these experiences, it will help me attain a position within a company.
