My approach is interdisciplinary, thinking across the spectrum of millets as crops and foods, from production to consumption, and across geographies, with attention also to linguistic, cultural, and historic dimensions.Maintaining long-term interests in rural development, languages, and localization, esp. in West Africa. Wider interests in systems, organizations, and change.International specialization in Africa with focus on West Africa; experience in China and the greater Middle East. Work has generally revolved around some combination of international development, languages, and technology.
