Microbiologist/ChemistAnalysis of drinking water for possible contamination of metals and bacteria for private wells such as E. coli bacteria, mercury using Flame AA technique, nitrates using Smart-Chem, chlorides, lead and sodium.All testing complies with EPA and the State’s Standard Method procedures and regulations.Prepared a wide range on reagents such as phenol and cyanide based chemicals, along with strong acids and bases with caution and accuracy.Quality control protocols are conducted to maintain sterile media and work environment for micro-bacterial testing of E. coli, E. faecalis and other bacteria commonly found in the presence of potable water and recreational bathing sites. Reports are generated daily/weekly based on tests results obtained.Conducted in the field survey of Cox Hall Creek for salinity and environmental investigations of potential hazardous areas.In addition, a major duty is sample collection and analysis for two main environmental monitoring programs CCMP and Ocean Outfall Program that is conducted by the department, one of which the results are reported to the state.Updated and maintained current MSDS sheets for all chemicals in the lab’s inventory required by OSHA regulations.
