Don Weise, Director of Donor Advising at the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, is a professional fundraiser, author, speaker, hike leader, and advocate for our rights to access nature and open spaces. Don joined the staff in 2011 as a Development Associate, was promoted to Development Manager in 2012. As the organization's Director of Donor Advising, he has helped raise the organization increase income from approximately $2.7 million to approximately $4.9 million since 2018. Don holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration and a Master's degree in Secondary Education. He has worked in the US and Europe in international business and sales management. He speaks fluent German. Don has served on the Trail Conference Board of Directors, has led more than 600 organized hikes and trail runs, is a volunteer trail maintainer, and commissioner for the West Milford Environmental Commission. He has also written two successful books, including the popular hiking guidebook, Circuit Hikes in Harriman.
