In November 1996 AirTouch International was awarded one of the two national digital GSM licenses in Romania. • Delivered wireless service in 12 weeks from license award. EMC magazine recognized this feat as the fastest GSM network launch in the world at that time.• Hired and managed more than 350 staff. • Managed all IT infrastructure including the Customer Care and Billing System and the prepaid platform.• Managed all network design, implementation and operational activities. Constructed more than 650 Base Stations, 7 MSC/BSC and a countrywide Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH)network. • Administered a CAPEX budget of more than $120 million• Developed company RFQ standards and ran an RFQ for Base Stations which drove prices down by a third and saved the company $30M. • Helped chart the strategic path for the company• Completed a full education, mentoring and succession plan creating a 100% Romanian team.
