I write for Idel.Realii, a Russian-language news website operated by RFE/RL's Tatar-Bashkir Service. Although formally I'm a freelance contributor, I take part in the day-to-day work of the team and typically publish over 15 pieces a month, all of them anonymously, which started for safety reasons and stuck as a tradition. My primary topics include local news from my home region of Astrakhan, regional politics in the Lower Volga and Central Asia, ethnic minority rights, and emerging secessionist movements.

I worked as a junior researcher at the Anthropological Linguistics lab under supervison of Evgeny Golovko. My work at the lab included extensive fieldwork focused on the interplay between language and identity in Kazakh and Nogai rural communities of Astrakhan Oblast.
