My name is Doreen Molefe, a well-established and intelligent lady who knows what she wants in life. I am a qualified journalist with a diploma, majoring in print and electronic media writing. I also, hold a Travel writing certificate from the Institute for Advancement of Journalism (IAJ) sponsored by South African Tourism and several other qualifications that I have accomplished over the years. Through these qualifications, I have worked with extraordinary individuals who have impacted a lot of discipline and an enthusiastic approach toward writing and reporting hard-hitting news. Writing plays an important role in my life. Throughout the years, writing has been therapeutic for me as an individual and also for the people that I have written about. Getting all the stories across and impacting lives. I had managed to hone my skills in the media industry by becoming a top-notch writer for South Africa’s number one selling paper, The Daily Sun. Also I have done some freelance work for Move, Parable and Heritage Magazines done profiles and biographies for famous people.My work experience as a journalist was at Daily Sun where I worked for 4 years. Started out as a general reporter and moved to the sports department where I worked for six months until I settled in the Entertainment department for 2 years. There I managed to edit and compile the copy for a year and a half years. That experience has given me the power to believe in myself and give others a chance to prove themselves. Other than I have worked for community newspapers, online news websites, and radio and also tried my luck in the music industry as a manager. After my stint with Daily Sun, I then ventured into Public Relations and worked for Toxmedia for 10 months. Through this job, I learned a lot about people’s behaviors and ways to please clients. I also made my way back to Daily Sun in 2011, where I have been working as an Entertainment writer for both the print newspaper and digital. I then moved to focus on the digital celeb section of the paper and continue to grow the numbers to extremely high pageviews since 2019. In 2021 I was promoted to head the entertainment section for both the paper and digital, a task I excelled so much that I was requested to pursue, News Editorship on an acting basis. In 2023, I was appointed the Deputy Editor of the Daily Sun. Daily, I’m inspired by what other people have achieved in life. I admire their courage, strength, and assertiveness.
