I am responsible for the federal-state programme "Social City" which represents an attempt to improve conditions in chosen urban districts. The activation of residents in order to enhance quarter structures is an essential element in this federal-state programme. It was launched in 1999 to counter the increasing social and spatial fragmentation in cities. The urban development assistance programme Social City is an important element of urban development policy at the federal level in Germany. It focuses on stabilising and upgrading economically and socially deprived, run down quarters and communities. Urban development investments in the neighbourhood environment, infrastructure and the quality of homes ensure greater intergenerational equity and family-friendliness in the quarter. They also improve the opportunities of residents for participation and integration. The aim is to promote vibrant neighbourhoods and strengthen social cohesion. The integrated development concept is a key element of the programme bringing together all stakeholders and resources of a quarter. Responsible for:- welcoming students upon arrival and being available for inquiries - supervising and correcting the placement tests- developing and guiding tours (in English and German) in Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin, Weimar and Prague

- coordinating and controlling market research projects in Dresden- using different methods of empirical research (emphasis on quantitative methods)- conducting interviews with the probands- consulting and customer care for national and international clients
