Researched and wrote opinion letters covering numerous sections of the Income Tax Act. These assignments cover areas including: cross border planning, international tax, post-mortem planning, real estate taxation and corporate reorganizations. Reviewed compliance requirements of resident and non-resident individuals, corporations, trusts and partnerships. Wrote internal and external articles on current and emerging income tax issues. Responded to media requests; appeared on radio shows to discuss tax matters and budgetary changes.Prepared and delivered internal and external presentations on topics including: owner-manager issues, Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED), and federal/provincial budget updates. Represented Soberman at Small Business Forum (2003) and on-campus recruitment at TMU and York University. Co-organized Soberman employees’ participation in CIBC’s Run for the Cure.

Reviewed complex personal and corporate tax returns, as well as corporate tax provisions for public and private companies. Researched and prepared opinion letters to clients and other correspondence to various tax authorities. Performed complex safe income calculation for public company. Developed a national course covering material on tax provision preparation and Handbook Section 3465; frequently taught the material to Ontario-based audit and tax seniors. Prepared course to High Net Worth specialists on the use of Alberta alter-ego/joint partner trusts. Member of the recruiting team. Trained and supervised junior level staff.
