Integral part of the Virginia National Guards Office of Manpower and Personnel as the subject matter expert at the state level on Veteran and Federal Benefits.Primary point of contact within the Virginia National Guard for questions and concerns related to transitioning from combat theaters to home. Integral liaison between the Virginia National Guard Headquarters and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Coordinated resources for National Guard members and their families with the myriad of service programs provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs, TRICARE, Veterans Service Organizations and other supporting agencies. Coordinated with Family Support Specialists and Employer Support Groups regarding entitlements through the Department of Veteran Affairs programs. Participated in councils and Governor appointed groups to resolve entitlement and benefit issues for the National Guard families.Event organizer and presenter for National Guard Service members and their families. Coordinated with the Department of Veterans Affairs both local and federal to assist returning and established Veterans to be able to obtain service connection, medical care, housing and employment. Primary data collector and analyst on issues effecting returning National Guard Veterans to include: unemployment, registration into the Veterans Health Care System, Wounded Warrior information, organizational planning for events, internal numbers for National Guard Headquarters Command, and resource building.Compiled and analyzed data into a clean easy to read format for higher echelon officials and made recommendations for new programs, strategies and procedures to better ensure maximum output of National Guard soldiers enrolled in various Veteran programs. Main analyst for taking current National Guard data and consolidating them into spread sheets for briefing purposes.

Served in combat operations during two deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Charged with supervising and maintaining security for the armory, personnel, weapons, and equipment. Routinely provided security and law enforcement activities in Baghdad and Fallujah to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal activities while on patrol and stationary check point operations.Integral member of a crew that operates high technology cannon artillery weapon systems. Loads and fires howitzers. Sets fuse and charge on a variety of munitions, including high explosive artillery rounds, laser guided projectiles, expelling mines, and rocket assisted projectiles. Uses computer generated fire direction data to set elevation of cannon tube for loading and firing. Performed preventive maintenance and clean artillery pieces and equipment. Routinely tested and authorized repairs to equipment when necessary. Operates in reduced visibility environments with infrared and starlight enhancing night vision devices and other equipment. Coordinates movement into position. Camouflaged position, protected equipment from chemical warfare agents and constructed field fortifications. Communicates using voice and digital wire and radio equipment. Transports and manages artillery ammunition. Participates in reconnaissance operations to include security operations and position preparation. Supervises handling, transportation, accountability, and distribution of ammunition. Assists section chief in supervision of howitzer operations, maintenance, and training. Lays weapon for direction, conducts bore sighting and basic periodic tests. Supervises the operation, loading, and maintenance of the Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicle. Directs and supervises movement emplacement of the howitzer section. Supervises and directs the construction, camouflage, and defense of the section position. Trains, instructs, and supervises section personnel in cannon gunnery procedures and firing.
