DV8 Design Group was formed in 1994 by Doris Clark to fulfill a dream of designing commercial kitchens with one-on-one personal service between herself and the clients; to share information and knowledge gleaned from years in the food service industry; to be a liaison to the restaurateur that didn’t have the direct connections with the manufacturers and their products. With a natural design sensibility, a found love of restaurants and an odd enjoyment of projects and detail, Doris blends artistry with equipment plans. Working with chefs to achieve their vision and with manufacturer’s to utilize the abilities of the proper equipment, plans are created with well known kitchen standards and innovative new ideas.The food service packages begin with design development, a process best described as a meeting of the minds. The owner, the chef or other representative, the architect and any other necessary personal meet to address the scope of the project, the building space and specifics that need to be met. Design schematics are developed and refined until an agreed upon layout is achieved. Full construction documents are then prepared. The finished documents then go out to bid, a process than can be handled by the owner of the project or supervised by DV8 Design if part of the original agreement. Also available as part of the food service package is the contract administration. DV8 Design Group will receive and answer all questions that arise during the construction phase, visit the site and verify rough-in locations for discrepancies, often saving money by finding errors before they become a permanent problem. That responsibility otherwise will fall to the awarded food service contractor. Submittal review and approval for accurate design intent is always provided. Full punch lists are done at the end of the installation insuring that what is turned over to the owner is exactly what was discussed and designed during the design development.
