As a tax executive, I specialize in Partnership, Individual (US & International), Corporation, State & Local Tax, Tax Controversy, Global Mobility, Employment Law, Incentives, Foundation, Gift & Trust, International, and Real Estate. Currently, I provide consulting services to various companies and individuals regarding global mobility, state tax returns, and immigration matters. Prior to my independent consulting work, I was the Tax & Global Mobility Director at Baker & McKenzie, LLP, where I managed material tax matters with total revenue of more than $1B. An expert in federal, state, and local tax audits, I served as Baker & McKenzie's authority for identifying the most effective ways to ensure tax and employment compliance for more than 350 US and 1000 worldwide partners. A natural at building rapport and fostering relationships, I assisted our global partners by negotiating with the local offices to assist in relocations and reassignments while mitigating risk and adhering to international compliance standards. While at Baker & McKenzie, I began as a Senior Tax Analyst and experienced upward career progression and longevity at one of the world's largest and most respected law firms. During my 18+ year tenure, I handled federal, state, and local tax audits and achieved significant reductions in assessments. I also evaluated multi-state tax incentives and designed the legal structure of service centers to qualify for state incentive programs, implemented standardized tax accounting policies and tax provision procedures, and drafted secondment agreements, assignment letters, and employment agreements to mitigate permanent establishment risk and minimize foreign, federal, and state taxes.I spent my early career at Ernst & Young as a Senior Tax Accountant before joining Gleeson, Sklar, Sawyers, and Cumpata, where I worked in the real estate industry servicing REITs and other property owners and developers.
