About Doris Mcewen, Ph.D.

My objective is to have leaders lead with a belief in student success by modeling high expectations, an understanding of the cultural assets each student brings to the classroom everyday, intentionally designing an infrastructure in the organization that supports student achievement, with the courage to establish and implement policy in their sphere of influence. In summary, ensuring that each and every student is successful is a matter of will power: social will (belief system), cultural will (understanding the population of students), organizational will (designing infrastructure), and political will (courage to enact policy on behalf of every student). My hope and dream as an educator is that every student becomes important to us and that we design an educational system that establishes this position.

M.E.C.C.A. is an exciting opportunity to continue my service to individuals, schools and school districts, state departments, and other organizations, in service to our children. After 45 years as an educator, I am transitioning into another chapter in my life journey. I actually started M.E.C.C.A. in the mid-90s but put it aside because of the demands of being a school superintendent. It is now time to revive the company.Dr. Ron Edmonds (1976) was clear that "We can whenever and wherever we choose successfully teach all students whose schooling is of interest to us..." It is this belief that I hold for educators. Every child is important and every child deserves an educator who believes that they can successfully teach them. Children excel or fail based on expectations of educators. M.E.C.C.A. services provide effective thought partnering to help develop leaders who extend H.O.P.E. (Help Other People Excel).I am available for public speaking, curriculum audits, equity audits, leadership coaching, and family/community engagement planning. My experiences as an educator are extensive and my track record of success is well documented.M.E.C.C.A.: The Peak of ExcellenceAlways in service to kids,Dorishttp://www.mcewen-mecca.com
