M.E.C.C.A. is an exciting opportunity to continue my service to individuals, schools and school districts, state departments, and other organizations, in service to our children. After 45 years as an educator, I am transitioning into another chapter in my life journey. I actually started M.E.C.C.A. in the mid-90s but put it aside because of the demands of being a school superintendent. It is now time to revive the company.Dr. Ron Edmonds (1976) was clear that "We can whenever and wherever we choose successfully teach all students whose schooling is of interest to us..." It is this belief that I hold for educators. Every child is important and every child deserves an educator who believes that they can successfully teach them. Children excel or fail based on expectations of educators. M.E.C.C.A. services provide effective thought partnering to help develop leaders who extend H.O.P.E. Oregon passed legislation to develop a seamless education system from pre-Kindergarten to baccalaureate degree. The goal is to have 100 percent of Oregonian graduating from high school by 2025, 40 percentage receiving post-secondary certificates and degrees, 40 percent receiving baccalaureate degrees, and 20 percent of high school graduates entering the workforce. This is known as the 40-40-20 goal. My responsibilities include the re-design for the K-12 portion of the system. It is an exciting time in Oregon as we use strategic investments to develop a system that puts students first and ensure every child attaining success.

I had responsibility for implementation of America’s Choice school design and products in the central states (16 sates throughout the center of the country); including the Rigor & Readiness initiative with America’s Choice and ACT. This includes supervision of deputy general manager and project managers throughout the central region, as well as ongoing work with sales team throughout the region. America's Choice was purchased by Pearson Education in 2008.

Senior Lecturer and director of school/university partnerships. Taught and advised students at the doctoral and masters level; provided support for district/university partnership work; liaison with mid-college and College of Education; advisor for Huckelbay Fellow; liaison with Teachers for New Era.

(Student Population 13,500, urban including two military installations: Fort Lewis Army and McChord Air Force). I provide leadership and direction for approximately 2,000 staff in 26 schools, including 3 schools at Western State Hospital. Five schools are located on Fort Lewis and 2 schools are located on McChord. There are 19 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 2 comprehensive high schools, and one alternative high school. The budget is approximately 110 million, with approximately 8 percent of the budget coming from Impact Aid. The socio-economic status of the community is bi-modal, with 53 percent free/reduced lunch. The district is rich in diversity and affords many opportunities for aligning the work of student learning.

Provided services as a member of the executive board to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., an organization dedicated to empowering communities through five key areas: educational awareness, political awareness, international awareness, physical and mental health, and economic awareness. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has initiated over 250,000 collegiate and alumnae women and has over 1,000 chapters throughout the United States and internationally. This is my 45th year as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., having been initiated at Zeta Kappa Chapter, Northern Michigan University, in 1969.

(Student population of 21,000+ in a city district comprised of five municipalities.) I provide district leadership for two of the districts quadrants, with direct supervisory responsibilities for 16 schools (3 high, 2 middle, 10 elementary schools and 1 cyberschool program (K-12) for home school students.) In addition, central office program directors and managers for athletics, professional and technical education, instructional support and student placement - including traffic safety, and standards and assessment are within my supervisory responsibilities. I also have management and coordinating responsibilities for all district high schools. Other responsibilities include working with the district and state committees on Certificate of Mastery; fiscal management; evaluation of principals, directors, and managers; monitoring of standards and framework implementation and all student assessment and program evaluations.
