The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a group of development agencies with mandates that include the environment, health, education, architecture, culture, microfinance, rural development, disaster reduction, the promotion of private-sector enterprise and the revitalisation of historic cities. AKDN agencies conduct their programmes without regard to faith, origin or gender.As the AKDN Regional Communications Officer, I was tasked with creating awareness and raising the profile of the Network, its agencies and activities, throughout East Africa by taking overall charge of the development and implementation of the AKDN Communications Strategy in East Africa. In consultation with the Executive Committee, I developed and managed each country office specific communication priorities and strategies, and managed the systematic roll-out of initiatives, communications products and events to deliver the regional EA Communications Strategy.

The Uganda Free Zones Authority (UFZA) is a body corporate, created by an Act of Parliament in February 2, 2014. The role of the Authority is to oversee the establishment, management, marketing, maintenance, supervision and control of Free Zones and to provide for other related matters.I was appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Affairs in May 2014, as part of an interim team mandated to set up the structures of the Authority. In this role, I developed UFZA's Corporate Brand; 3-year Communications Strategy, workplan and budget; carried out a Stakeholder Mapping exercise and developed a Stakeholder Engagement Strategy; and managed UFZA's public relations and media engagements.

The Investment Climate Advisory Services in Africa (IC Africa) of the World Bank Group operates in more than 30 countries. IC Africa advises African governments on how to reform their legislative framework to encourage business creation and growth. In Uganda, the IC Africa team is specifically working on business licensing and tax reform. Developed Communications Strategies for the implementation of business reforms (Uganda), Construction Permits Management Information System for the City of Kigali (Rwanda) & the South Sudan Investment Conference (South Sudan); Supported the establishment of a public-private dialogue on the reform process; Developed a media network to ensure regular feed of program-related information for media pick-up; managed the Communications budget; Created and regularly updated various communications tools such as factsheets, program talking points, donor presentations, wrote regular impact stories on program achievements for internal and external audiences; and created regular media monitoring reports.
