Dorothy Dobbie is the founder and president of Pegasus Publications Inc., the publisher of several magazines and tabloids covering topics from gardening to education and jobs, from senior lifestyles to the new Hub magazine distributed at the Winnipeg International Airport. She also published the magazine, Beyond the Hill, for the former parliamentarians. She is a former member of parliament, was the first woman president of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce (1987/88), Outstanding Business Citizen of the Year in Manitoba (1983), and Winnipeg Woman of the Year for Business (1988). She is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee medal for community involvement and received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Former MLAs for 2014. In May 2015, she received the Woman in Business Award from the Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce.Mrs. Dobbie recently completed a five-year term as President and Chair of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and she chaired the 15th Canadian National Annual Arts Summit for 2012. She is a member of the board of Tree Canada, the International Peace Gardens, is an adjudicator for the National Broadcast Standards Council and on the executive board of the Canadian Association of Former Members of Parliament, among other local boards and community initiatives.She hosts a weekly gardening show on CJOB every Sunday morning.
